Interference Patterns is an installation that explores interference phenomena on the surface of water. Custom computer software generates two low-frequency tones which are fed to tactile transducers on the bottom of a shallow trough of water. The pitches slowly change over time, coaxing the surface of the water into patterns whose form depends on the dimensions of the trough and the pitches themselves.
